Any interior design should respect and suit the client’s life stage, but we took particular care in considering the future when creating this inviting, comfortable space for a pair of empty nesters and their furry friend. The couple had recently downsized from their family home and wanted their new apartment to feel warm and welcoming for living and entertaining—as well as accessible and easy to maintain as they aged.

With these goals in mind, we worked to create multifunctional spaces (a necessity in almost any city home) with a seamless flow. Choosing elegant, durable upholstery fabrics throughout keeps upkeep to a minimum, and rich colors—like the living room’s vibrant orange rug or the main bedroom’s muted gray—create a quietly luxurious atmosphere. Finally, custom-designed shelving provides plenty of storage and display areas for a lifetime of books and collections, making the new smaller space feel like home.
